A foster care specialist is the backbone of the Foster Care Department and is the primary person who works with the foster parent, foster child and birth parents. They must be organized, have time management skills that are needed to have reports completed within the time frames determined by DHHS policy. The position requires computer skills at a level to work within the State wide data based system known. Must be willing and able to attend mandatory state training as part of the Orientation and Training requirements. Act as agency liaison with foster parents and prospective foster parents. Assessing and evaluating readiness for fostering through a formalized home study and birth parent assessment psycho-social.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Master Degree in Social Work or related field (per MDHHS Policy) preferred; Masters with 1-year experience or Bachelor’s with a minimum of two years’ experience is preferred, without experience are willing and able to learn the position. Starting salary is commensurate with work experience and education. Good communication and writing skills.
